Since September 15, 2009, every pleasure craft operator must have proof of competency on board like the boat license, if the boat has a motor.
It’s mandatory, regardless of the age, the length of the boat or the power of the motor.
You can obtain your boat card by internet.
- You read the boating safety manual online;
- After your study, you do the Transport Canada final test online too;
- Upon successfully passing the test, you may print your temporary boat card;
- You’ll receive your Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) by the mail.
The card is good for life.
The minimum fine is $ 250 for people who get caught out not to show their boat license while sailing the Canadian waterways.
The boating card is valid anywhere in Canada.
You can’t have a copy of your boating card on your boat. You need the real boat card.
You can do a practice test to verify your knowledge about the boat safety course.
